2018 IYFR Post Convention Cruise (PCC)

Ahoy!  The 2018 IYFR Post Convention Cruise (PCC) will be held in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, from Thursday, June 28 to Monday, July 2, 2018.

This PCC will coincide with the 36th annual “Hands Across the Border Rendezvous” of Rotary Mariners from British Columbia and Washington State, USA - the Pacific Northwest.

The area around Victoria (including the Gulf Islands) is world-renowned for its cruising grounds, natural beauty, tourist attractions, and fun things to do.

For some wonderful video footage of the area go to the following website:

www.tourismvictoria.com

there are also pull-down menus that lists the attractions, places to eat & drink, and general information including local transportation and maps under the “Plan” pulldown menu.

The PCC will take place primarily on the water during the day, with group dining in the evenings.  Rotary Mariners have the option of chartering a boat for travel and accommodations rather than staying in hotels at night.

Please put these dates on your calendar and more importantly, reserve your charter vessel as soon as possible if you plan to attend and stay aboard your own vessel.  If you stay in hotels at night, local Rotary Mariners, and visiting Rotary Mariners chartering during the day boats, will be your hosts aboard their vessels on Saturday and Sunday.

A visitor to Victoria can quite happily add days and weeks to their trip after the PCC to explore this gem on the shores of the Pacific Ocean.

Next page is a chart from Sidney, location of the Victoria International Airport (YYJ), to the Victoria Inner Harbour, showing Esquimalt Harbour to the West of Victoria.  Note how close the area is to the USA border, and if you attend the PCC you will note how close the Rotary Mariners on either side of that border act as one yachting fellowship.  That’s why our annual gathering of the IYFR fleets in the Pacific Northwest is called “Hands Across the Border Rendezvous”!  From Victoria you can see Washington State on three sides.  Seattle is only 65 nautical miles from Victoria.

The PCC Activities Reservation Form needs to be sent as soon as possible so we have a reasonable head count by June 1.
